When I was working in the nightclub industry at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas, I noticed
two women trying to get into the club one night. I decided to help them and escorted them inside.
We had a drink and talked briefly before I returned to work.
Later that night, while playing blackjack, I noticed one of the women leaving with a group of
people. At that moment I heard the Spirit say:
“Give her your phone number.”
I stopped her, gave her my business card, and told her to call me if she needed anything while
she was still in town.
Around three o’clock that morning my phone rang.
It was the woman from the club.
She was crying and could barely speak. She told me one of the men she had been with had tried
to assault her, but she managed to escape. She had tried calling her friends, but no one answered.
Then she remembered that I had given her my phone number.
She asked if I could help her.
She didn’t know exactly where she was but said she was near a Home Depot on Sand Hill Road.
I didn’t even have a car that night, but I walked nearly a mile to borrow one from a friend so I
could find her.
When I finally located her, her shirt was torn and she was covered in blood.
I brought her safely back to her hotel.
Looking back, every detail of that night had played a part.
Meeting her.
Noticing her leave.
Giving her my number.
Her remembering it.
Having access to a car when she needed help.
What might have seemed like an ordinary moment earlier in the evening became a divine
appointment later that night.
It reminded me that sometimes we are placed in someone’s path for a reason.
God creates the circumstances so that love, compassion, and sacrifice can be expressed at exactly
the right time.
