Marcellous Curtis's Creative World: Where Imagination Meets Reality

A father gives his daughter a smiley balloon while shopping with her mother.

The Girl Named Faith

Around the same time in my life, I was sitting in a car talking with a friend named Athena.

During our conversation she kept repeating one word over and over again:

“Faith.”

Everything else she said seemed to blur together, but that word stood out clearly in my mind.

Faith.

After our conversation we went into a grocery store.

As we walked down one of the aisles, I heard the familiar prompting of the Spirit telling me to

go to the next aisle.

When I turned the corner, I noticed a balloon with a sun and a sunflower on it.

The Spirit said, “Buy it.”

So I did.

After purchasing the balloon, I walked back into the aisle where Athena was standing.

There was a little girl sitting in a shopping cart next to her mother. The girl had been trying to get

her mother’s attention, but the woman was distracted by a phone call.

The moment the little girl saw the balloon, she reached out for it.

When I handed it to her, she hugged it tightly.

Her mother turned around and said, “Oh my gosh, how did you know? That was so nice of you.

Faith, tell the man thank you.”

The little girl’s name was Faith.

In that moment I realized how every detail had aligned perfectly.

The conversation about faith.

The prompting to go to another aisle.

The balloon with the sun on it.

The little girl reaching for it.

What seemed like a small moment became another testimony.

It was a reminder that even the simplest acts of kindness may be part of a larger design that we

only recognize after it unfolds.
